To this end, a variety\u00a0of practical skills must be developed and a corpus of knowledge acquired. While all areas of study are\u00a0assessed separately and a high standard of work demanded in each, the most important objective of the\u00a0course is the development of the intangible concept of creative imagination and its expression within\u00a0the collective framework of a group.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Subjects of Study<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><\/strong><strong>Modern Indian Drama<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Development of modern Indian Theatre from the mid-19th century with an emphasis on the\u00a0contemporary theatre scene.<\/li>\n<li>Regional language theatre : theory and practice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<strong>Classical Indian Drama &amp; Aesthetics<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Understanding of Indian aesthetics, history of Sanskrit drama, detailed analysis of select Sanskrit\u00a0plays and interpretation of the Natyashastra in terms of its dramatic structure, its performance and\u00a0audience in the ancient period and its significance to contemporary theatre.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>World Drama<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Study of major critical theories of theatre and application of these to written and performance texts\u00a0from different periods of history. The primary focus is on European theatre with cross reference of\u00a0Asian, African, American and Australian theatre.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Voice &amp; Speech<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Exercise in speech to achieve breath control, clarity and audibility.
