The Publication Unit o f the National School of Drama is responsible for:-
i)Publishing text books on theatre
ii)Arranging for the translation of important books on theatre from English into Hindi
iii)Bringing out other important books on theatre.
The units first major publication titled ‘Rang Yatra’ which chronicled 25 years history of the NSD Repertory Company from 1964 onwards, came out in 1990. From 1997-2000, the publication unit has brought out 27 publications on drama and related subjects, besides its regular publications.

Theatre India, School’s ’s bi-annual English journal, has effectively portrayed the wide spectrum of contemporary life and traditions in India. It aims at acquainting theatre lovers with the myriad forms of the art while simultaneously cutting across barriers of language, region and culture. Through the medium of this magazine, the School has endeavored to bridge the gap between readers from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Rang Prasnag is the School’s journal in Hindi which aims to depict the changed scenario in theatre over the last 50 years.
Each issue is related primarily to the theatrical activities of a particular reader. Each issue contains thought provoking articles on theatre in general and on various techniques of the dramatic arts.
In addition, the journal also contains manuscripts of plays written or translated in Hindi.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Indian Republic, NSD started some new programmes, a magazine called ‘Raj Bhasha Manjusha’ in Hindi was one of them. Its objective is to encourage the officials of the National School of Drama in the progressive use of Hindi and also to encourage them to try their hand in literary pursuits. Besides articles by eminent Hindi writers, officials of the School have also contributed articles. It is a non-priced publication.
