Kitabon Mein Hulchal
The play Kitabon Mein Hulchal is inspired by the play ‘Hubbub on the Bookshelf” written by Alice Woster, and was developed by the TIE Company. It deals with the theme that all subjects have their own importance and if one wants to have a balanced life then it is important to be friendly towards each of them.
The plot of the pay centers around a bookshelf that is suddenly attacked by eight hungry bookworms, each of whom consumes a book on a particular subject and starts favoring that particular subject over all others. At the same time there is a little worm who gets left out in the chaos and who then goes on to eat an entire book.
When it is proposed that a community of bookworms should be created, each worm argues that his particular subject is most superior and no consensus can be reached. At this point the little worm arrives and claims leadership. As the play progresses the worms realize their mistake and a fine level of understanding is reached by all of them.
The basic message of the play is that all subjects are important in their own way and a harmonious balance between them is what should be aimed at. It focuses on an integrative and wholistic approach towards life and education, which is one of the best ways to create a better world.
