Kalakaar Trust
The Kalakar Trust is a non-government organisation that concentrates on
working with poor artists living in the slums of Delhi and other such areas.
Founded in 1992 by Sterre Sharma, a painter, and her sister, Dr. Mei
Zegers, the Trust has grown to benefit over 5000 people (approximately
2600 families) most of whom are performing street artistes like
puppeteers, magicians, musicians, and acrobats. The Trust sponsors
and coordinates programs through which experienced folk artists train
children, youngsters and adults.
