The last performance made under this category was:-

•Aab-i-Zindagi

A performance of the play Aab-e-Zindagi based on an except from the Bhagwat Gita was held in the month of May. The basic idea of the play was that the Mahabharata is more a metaphor of war than an actual physical altercation. Kurukshetra in that context, is the human breast where there is a constant ongoing tussle between good and evil, right and wrong. The play was an attempt to capture this essence.

Performances of Aab-e-Zindagi were held on the 4th and 5th of May, 2007, at 6:30 pm in the Abhimanch Auditorium. The play was designed and directed by Dr.Dinesh Yadav, with Sh. Rudradeep Chakraborty being the dramaturge and Sh. Ajay Kumar Singh being the translator. The performance on the 4th was for internal viewing only, while the public performance was held on the 5th of May 2007.

•Jameela- An Autobiography of a Sex Worker

Another diploma production presented during this quarter was Jameela, based on the autobiography of Nalini Jameela, a 51 year-old sex worker from Kerela. Written in an objective manner, with great depth and insight, the book looks at prostitution just like “any other profession”, which is an extremely unusual and interesting point of view. The play based on it aimed to capture some of its fascinating essence.

It is interesting to note that the book, which was released on 18th of June, 2006, sold over 2,000 copies in just two weeks.

Performances of Jameela were held on the 13th of April, 2007, at the Bahumukh Auditorium. The play was directed by Ms. Gargi Bharadwaj, while the translation from the original Malayalam into Hindi and dramatization were done by Ms. Supriya Shukla.
